Skeena & Nass River Fall Fishing report

Skeena & Nass River Fall Fishing Report

Skeena river fishing report for November 4 / 2014 .

Fly fishing has been the method Steelhead the prey for the last 2 months, we are now taking a break and getting ready for winter to set in after a very successful fall Steelhead & Coho season. Not with out hard work and extensive knowledge of the Skeena,Nass,Kitimat regions, we traveled far and wide to get our guests hooked up to their own trophy fish. While most area lodges and guided anglers were packing their bags and posting face book messages about the “blown rivers”, we were hooking up!  Not to blow our horn, but when being guided by Westcoast Fishing Adventures you are sure to find clean fishable water no matter what. The rest is up to you! One of our many company slogans goes like this – “We don’t sell ROD DAYS We sell Fishing Adventures!” So if you are looking for Professional fishing guides that know the water & do there home work, look no further. You have found the one and only Westcoast Fishing Adventures.  Were – Here to Hook you up !

Now on to the report. All area rivers are on the drop and of course jammed with Steelhead and spawning Coho. We have been getting heavy rain through out most days however temps are dropping  & snow is falling around 1800 ft. The Kalum winter run will soon be here as the copper river is in full swing – The Bell Irving was just starting to fish well towards the end of the season with chrome Steelhead showing up daily. Coho salmon on all region 6 rivers are closed for the season. The Kispiox , Bulkley, Morice, Sustut, Suskwa, Babine & all other Steelhead rivers have seen the bulk of Steelhead arrive for the season and will now color up and prepare themselves for the winter ahead. If you are on route or still planning a last minute trip to the Skeena,Nass,Kitimat region do not hesitate to contact our office for an up to date fishing report Or reserve your next fishing adventure as we Fish to Live & Live to Fish We look forward hearing from you. info@westcoastfishing,ca or 1-866-578-8552

Fishing Report for Westcoast Fishing Adventures Ltd for May & June 2014

Good day everybody, sorry for the delay in fishing reports, as we here at the lodge have been busy getting clients hooked up.

The Spring season started off  a bit slow, the rivers were high and muddy a bit early, but have shaped up beautifully!  Every year Mother Nature gives us something new to experience, keeps our lives interesting here in Beautiful Natural British Columbia (=

Here are a couple photos of some guests in May:

Guided Steelhead fishing on the Skeena river in Terrace BC

Guided Steelhead fishing on the Skeena River, is one of the best ways to spend your money. I am a guide and when I vacation, we hire local guides. Most guides have spent their entire life fishing and it turns it into a way of life. I for one, tell my guests from around the world I have my Masters and Bachelors in Salmon & Steelhead fishing. For example, do you often perform a procedure on your knee or back with out a doctor? or maybe a breast implant? Exactly! I am the fish doctor. Not only do you get my expertise, you get the use of thousands of dollars in equipment that only a doctor could afford, or a guide that has devoted his whole life to fishing & learning the great outdoors.

Ok That said are you ready to book your trip yet?

Its March 7 2014, the count down till the spring Steelhead season begins! One of my personal favorites at the moment. The ice is 3 feet thick on the Skeena right now, and all other tributaries are completely frozen over and the Oolican run has begun? This has been a wild weather winter to say the least, with wind from the North for nearly 3 months leaving a normally rainy slushy snowy climate dry and cold with very little snow until today.

Our first guests show up at the end of March, for some Steelhead fishing on the Kitimat river targetting fresh Chrome Steelhead! We will be fly fishing & float fishing the prime water from the new 18 ft Clackacraft! This is a Cadillac of all boats! Our guests say the ride alone down the river is worth the price of admission! The Steelhead are the bonus 😀

If you are interested in booking your trip with a professional guide here are some available dates.

Skeena River ,Nass River, Kitimat River Fishing Report for Feb 8 / 2014

Skeena river is now frozen over with thick ice over most of the river the Kitimat river is nothing more than a trickle of water & The Nass river is low frozen and clear for a change. We have been ice fishing on some area lakes with the family catching brook  trout up to 3 lb and rainbows as the winter steelhead lurk under the ice flow until the arctic wind subsides. There has been some great winter spring action out of Prince Rupert just out of Rush brook, Kinkolith has been very good on the changing tides as well not far from the old government ferry dock casting buzz bombs & sting zelda’s halibut action is also good. I am also looking forward to the first prawn feed. As for bookings this season things are going very well with a lot of positive energy being felt at the trade shows in the US this season, seems people are getting over the economy scare and just getting out and living.
We are looking forward to the 2014 season with our old guests as well as new ones.

If you haven’t booked your fishing vacation yet don’t delay dates are going quickly.

Spring Steelhead & Hawaii Monster Bones.

Hello all!

Been a bit since the last report, but its always nice to write about something that you love, so here it goes. Spring Steelhead & Hawaii bones on the fly, as we wait for winter to pass in Terrace BC, Mandi & myself have gone on an adventure in Hawaii with Captain Mike Hennessy. I highly recommend his guide services 100%.  His eagle eye and complete knowledge of this relatively unknown Big Bone fishery is second to none! He also does trips to other destinations as well. Click HERE to visit Mike’s site.

This is my first bone fishing experience. I am not a rookie angler, however there is a bit of a learning curve to catching these trophy sport fish. The hunt is half the fun – then you spot one your adrenaline starts to run now you have to make the perfect cast to these ninja bones as they are big and wise for a reason. When hooked these fish absolutely tear off line. This fish in the photo emptied my reel in about 20 seconds. Words do not describe how much fun this is hunting and having the opportunity to catch these Bone fish has truly been another life experience not to be forgotten! And we will be back. Thanks again Mike…

That’s right, this means you can have a shower after a hard day of Steelheading. There are only a few spaces available, so do not delay if you want a Steelhead Adventure of a life time.
